Hi, everyone! In just a few moments, posting for our Annual Winter Exchange will begin! I hope you are all as excited as we are! :)

Just a couple of notes before the first fic is posted:

1. If you receive a gift in the fest, please leave its author some love! Everyone worked really hard on their assignments and it's only fair for everyone to leave a comment on their gift. If you're just a reader, feel free to comment on anything that might strike your fancy. We have a large variety of characters and pairings this year, so hopefully there's something for everyone. :)

2. If you still haven't turned in your fic for this fest, today is your absolute last day to do so. If we do not receive something from you by tomorrow morning (say, 10 AM Eastern time), then your assignment will be given to a pinch hitter. We simply do not have the time to be chasing people down this year, unfortunately, and rules are rules.

(And on that note, if anyone reading this would be interested/available for pinch hitting, feel free to volunteer in this post! Hopefully we won't need anyone, but things do happen.)

Halloween has come and gone and the days are getting colder....which means it's that time of year again! Welcome to our annual rarepair_shorts Winter Exchange!

The Winter Exchange is an anonymous exchange.
Participants submit a request, with prompt ideas such as characters, situations, and themes. The mods match these requests with another participant, who then writes the requested fic. All participants receive a fic based on their request/prompt. The authors are anonymous until all the stories have been posted.

This year's timeline and basic rules:

4 November 2013: Sign-ups open
16 November 2013: Sign-ups close
18 November 2013: Assignments are sent out.
16 December 2013: Assignments are due.
23 December 2013: Posting begins.

As per the comm rules, only rare pairs (please see this post for excluded pairings) and fics with a rating no higher than R are allowed. Minimum word count is 500, maximum 2500 words.
