If you enjoyed participating in this exchange and would love to write some more rare pair fics, why not think about signing up for one of our ongoing, no pressure prompt tables? We'd love to have you!

Oh, thanks for the special thanks! Yeah, I so much commented on everyone's fic that I even treated mine, LOL. But really, with no recipient and no comments, I was feeling so much in need of some love (and anyway, if I hadn't commented on it it would have been tantamount to saying "hey, I wrote this one" and thus revealing my identity before being permitted to), O Most Admirable Mistress of Exchanges! Thanks for this very enjoyable fest, and let's hope for many happy returns!

I'd love to write some more rare pairs (especially since reading some of the stories in the fest has opened my eyes to possibilities I hadn't considered exploring before). But I don't really understand how this prompt thing works. Are there deadlines? Can two people work on the same set of prompts? Where do we post the story when it's finished?

I had a look some time ago at these rare pairings that apparently you can claim and I didn't really understand it either. Why should each member claim only one pairing, so that they can't write other pairings and other members can't write theirs? I mean I guess there's a good reason but I couldn't find the purpose. If you would explain, then perhaps I could join in the fun :). Thanks!

Some answers for you!

1. There is no deadline, you can take as long as you'd like to complete a table.

2. By your second question, are you asking if you can collaborate with someone else to write a set? If so, then I have to say no, all of the fics should be written by you. But if you're asking if you can use any prompt table you wish despite other people's claims, then yes. The only thing that has to be different is your pairing.

3. You post your fics directly to our community. First you have to join the community by clicking this link here: http://www.livejournal.com/community/join.bml?comm=rarepair_shorts. Then, when you're ready to post a fic, use this link here: http://www.livejournal.com/update.bml?usejournal=rarepair_shorts. Then just paste your fic into the entry box and post! Just remember to use the proper header in your posts. (That's found in the rules post here: http://rarepair-shorts.livejournal.com/537.html)

4. It's a little hard to explain why you can only use one unique pairing, but basically it's just common practice in claiming communities like this one. Your pairing can't be the same as other people's in order to ensure variety in the community. But if you finish your thirteen prompts and want to claim a new pairing, you're certainly free to do so. You just have to do one at a time.

I hope that helps, and I apologize if I couldn't explain something properly. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Thanks a lot for your answers! Yes, it makes sense that everyone should not be writing on the same pairings, of course.

2. Yes, I meant could two people work (separately but at the same time) on the same prompt.

So, if I understand correctly, first I choose a rare pairing that is not claimed, then I choose or mix a set of prompts, and then... what do I do with the prompts? Write a story with all of them in it or one story for each prompt? Or can I just use six of the prompts and ignore the rest?

Correct. You choose a pairing that isn't currently claimed, then select your prompts.

To clarify: Generally speaking, each story should be based on one of the prompts in your table. That does not mean that the stories can't be connected to make up one whole once the prompt table is finished. It's really up to you.

The idea is that you write one short story for each prompts in your table. Remember there is no deadline.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
