Title: A Cheesy Pick-Up Line Was All It Took
Pairing: Harry Potter/Fred Weasley
Request/Prompt Used: Harry/Fred
Rating: Teen
Word Count/Art Medium: 533
Summary: Harry wasn't expecting this to move so fast, but Fred had a way with words.
Notes: I've not written these two together before, so I hope you like it! :)
Sunlight glinted off the surface of the pond as Harry leant back on his elbows. He tilted his face towards the sun, smiling.
"You look happy."
There was warmth to Fred's voice, causing Harry's smile to widen. He patted the spot beside him on the picnic blanket before reaching over to drag the basket of food closer. Fred grinned. Leaning heavily on the cane he now had to use, he hobbled over slowly. He was still getting used to both the cane and the false leg, but the Healers seemed very happy with his progress.
"Should I not be?" Harry offered Fred a bottle of Butterbeer as soon as he was settled. "The sun's out, and I've got a basketful of homecooked food. I'm here with you. We're finally alone."
"I like that last part."
"There's not even that many people at the park today."
"Go back to the part about us being alone."
Harry chuckled. Glancing over, he watched Fred's throat work as he swallowed several gulps of Butterbeer. It had struck Harry fairly strongly just how close he had come to not being able to have moments like this. Not with Fred, anyway. It was what had prompted him to ask Fred out on this date. Warmth flooded him as their eyes met.
"Alone is good."
Fred's deep brown eyes danced as he grinned. Shifting his position on the blanket caused the tips of their fingers to touch. When Harry didn't move his hand, Fred's grin widened.
"Alone is always good when it's with you."
Unable to help it, Harry began to laugh. He could feel his cheeks heating up, but he couldn't stop to think about it.
"Do cheesy lines like that usually work?" he gasped out after a few seconds. "Really?"
"You tell me."
When Harry glanced back over, Fred had shifted again. He was close. The laughter died in Harry's throat as he caught the intense look to Fred's eyes. His heart began to race and sweat broke out on his palms. Flicking his tongue out to wet his lips caused Fred's eyes to follow the movement.
"Harry?"
Shit.
He hadn't expected this to move so quickly. Now that he was here, though, he wasn't really objecting. Leaning closer, he breathed in Fred's scent.
"Apparently they do."
Intense wasn't something that Harry generally associated with Fred Weasley. But that was really the only way to describe the kiss. Heat swirled through Harry's body as Fred cupped his face, holding him at just the right angle for the kiss to work in their awkward, sideways positions. The hand that was still on the blanket – the one Fred's fingertips were touching – clenched as Fred hummed into the kiss just before breaking it. Harry followed him as he pulled back, not wanting it to end.
"Harry?"
Sitting there with Fred's hand still cupping his face, his own hand clenched in the picnic blanket, and his heart beating so fast that he was forced to remember the Muggle cartoons Dudley used to watch, Harry smiled. He reopened his eyes to find Fred watching him with a combination of amusement and passion in his eyes. He nodded slowly.
"Yeah, they really do work."
