Hello everyone, hope you're all doing well. :)
We have many exciting things we'd like to do this summer in terms of events, but first we'd just like to gauge your interest on some things we have in mind.
If you could take a moment to consider these options and leave feedback on this post, we'd really love you for that. :D
1. A picture is worth a thousand words.
A fic exchange using pictures as prompts - and you must write 1000 words, plus or minus AT MOST 50 words. (So no less than 950, no more than 1050).
2. Remix Exchange.
A fic exchange where you select one fic from a given set of stories to completely rewrite in your own style.
3. Tagging.
Interested participants would sign up, and each would be assigned a number. All the participants would contribute to one giant story, one line at a time. Each participant would get roughly three turns.
4. Numbers Game.
Us mods would make two secret lists - one of male characters and one of female characters. Then, participants would sign up, pick two numbers between 1 and 10, and specify whether they would like to receive slash, het, or femmeslash. From there, it works like a regular fic exchange - we would hand out the assignments, specifying what pairing the numbers resulted in. ETA: Look here if you're confused. (It explains that there would be an easy and a hard list - plus three pairings to choose from. So odds are you'll get at least one pairing that's not horribly squicky/un-doable.)
5. Classic Fic Exchange.
Just to keep things simple. :)
ETA:
6. OT3 Challenge.
Fic exchange using rare OT3s instead of rare OTPs.
And don't forget to participate in our challenges!

Date: 2008-06-03 09:49 pm (UTC)2) No. Remixes can die.
3) I really don't understand that.
4) Possibly. It sounds kind of confusing though. But I think I get the idea. What if we end up with an character we know that we cannot write? Like I don't want to attempt Lucius Malfoy at all. So what do I do if I get him?
5) What's a classic fic exhange? Asking because I have never participating in one.
6) ah...maybe.

Date: 2008-06-03 10:03 pm (UTC)Re #3: As an example, participant #1 starts off the story by saying, "Once upon a time there was a rabbit." Then participant #2 would add a line to that, like, "Its name was Fluffy." And so on. Does that make sense? :\
Re #4: See the link I just posted, that should clear things up a bit. :)
Re #5: Basically you write a fic for someone else, using all their suggestions and one main pairing that they ask for. It's an anonymous exchange, so you would write something for someone, and you would get something in return - but you wouldn't know who it was from. If you look up our tag 'fic exchange' under "Find-a-fic", you can kind of get the idea.

Date: 2008-06-03 09:51 pm (UTC)For number One, can we also give songs as prompts? Participants upload a song or link to a YouTube video that has song.
This sounds fun. I should get my butt back into gear. XD

Date: 2008-06-03 10:05 pm (UTC)Perhaps we could do the song thing as something else, if anyone else is interested...?

Date: 2008-06-03 10:33 pm (UTC)2) Um, no. I’m too wary of touching someone else’s story and mucking it up.
3) Yes.
4) Yes.
5) Yes. (Especially if it's 1000 words or under like last time).
6) Maybe. *ponders*
Whether I’ll participate will depend mainly on when this will be scheduled, though. After June 20th or so would work, before that, I’ll be too busy with RL *kicks it* and fest fics.

Date: 2008-06-04 12:12 am (UTC)2. Hrm. could potentially be fun, but like someone already said, I'm a little wary of rewriting someone else's work.
3. Could be fun if it was given some structure. Like a given set of characters to use and an ultimate goal to accomplish by the end of the fic. That way we have some prompt to get to the end and stick with it, and a common goal we need to accomplish as a group. Does that make sense?
4. This would be SO much fun, but like everyone else has said, there's always the chance I'll end up with two people I can't write. Which would be sort of fun because then I'd have to force myself to write them, probably badly, and get some kicks out of it. So as long as people don't take this too seriously and expect to be writing amazing, novelty fics with such stakes, then it would be a BLAST.
5. Sure, always fun. :] Everybody loves fic exchanges!
6. Hell yeah. 8D
Erm. I'm going to be gone 1/3rd of the summer so you probably shouldn't put much stock into my opinion. But the ones I will be around for I will most definitely participate in.

Date: 2008-06-04 01:42 am (UTC)I don't like #2 or #3.
How about as a slight change to #4, you make up two lists or rare characters (one male and one female). The writer states a character, gives you a number and states that they want het, slash, or femmeslash. You give them the character they have to pair their character with.
I'm always up for #5, though it'll depending on the timing as I'm already working on two feasts/exchanges at the moment.
#6 could defiantly be interesting.

Very neat ideas!

Date: 2008-06-04 09:47 am (UTC)2. I don't think I could do this - I'm not too keen on the idea of anyone rewriting anything I've written.
3. Erm, nope. Not for me.
4. I like the sound of #4, but like everyone else I have certain characters I can't/won't write. Would there be a chance to pick more than one number combination so that there is a choice like there was with the
5. As long as there would be a word limit then I quite like this idea.
6. Erm, hmm... I'm not sure.
