Hermione sat down for a short break before her fiance came home. She had been on her feet all day and just needed a sit down.

As she put her feet up, she heard a whoosh from the Fireplace in the hall and heavy footsteps. He was home.

“Hello, love,” Charlie said leaning down and kissing her cheek.

“How was your day?” Hermione asked.

“Tedious. I really wish the Wizangamot would actually listen to me. I can see yours was busy though,” he replied, gesturing to the decorations sitting in the corner.

“That was only part of my day. I baked the cookies that your mum asked me too, I’ve made Christmas cards, and even wrapped some presents as well,” Hermione informed him.

“Are you sure you’re up to doing the tree? You’re not all Christmassed out yet?” he asked.

“Not at all! You know this is my favourite time of the year,” she answered laughing slightly.

“Okay, let me get changed, have a cuppa, and we will get started.”

An hour later they had the Christmas tree out of the box and were trying to stand it up to no avail.

“I think we’re going to have to shrink it a little, love. It’s too tall for the space,” Charlie said.

“Yes I think we will have to as well,” Hermione replied.

She couldn’t believe she had been silly enough to not measure how tall the ceiling was before buying the tree. All she saw was a great bargain.

“Did you want me to shrink it, or you?” he asked.

“I will do it if you don’t mind. I don’t think I could hold it on my own,” she replied.

Letting go of the tree, Hermione walked around to the front of it and cast the shrinking spell until it was the right size.

“That’s better.”

“It looks good, love,” Charlie said coming to stand next to her, “All we have to do now is decorate it.”

“Why don’t we put on some music as well?”

“Why not,” he replied smiling.

Christmas was one of her most favourite times of the year, and it was clear that Charlie loved seeing her get all excited about it.

Once the music started the both of them went through the boxes of decorations to choose which ones would hang on the tree. This year, they had decided on red, blue, and gold baubles, with a few homemade ones as well.

“Do you want to put the angel on the top?” Charlie asked.
Biting her lip, Hermione said, “You do it. I can do it next year.”

Ever since she was old enough to put a star or angel on the Christmas tree she had done. At first her dad had to lift her up so she could reach, but by her sixth year at Hogwarts, Hermione was able to reach it herself. Since the war was over she had carried on the tradition whether she was decorating the tree alone or not.

It’s time for a new tradition, she thought.

Altogether it took almost two hours to completely decorate the whole lounge. The tree was set up in the corner with the presents Hermione had wrapped earlier that day, and twinkling lights were hung along the top of each wall.

“It looks beautiful,” Hermione said as they curled up together on the sofa.

“It does. I’m so glad we got to do it together,” Charlie replied kissing her forehead.

“So am I. I love you,” she said turning towards him.

“I love you too,” he said be leaning down and kissing her lips.

This just maybe my best Christmas yet, Hermione thought as she kissed him back.
