Theo smiled as he watched Harry try to knot his tie. His long fingers fumbled with the silk material, and he rolled his eyes affectionately as Theo snorted.
“Here,” Theo murmured, walking over to Harry and standing behind him, his dark brown gaze meeting Harry’s green one in the long mirror. “Let me help.”
Theo fixed Harry’s tie for him with ease, and then curled his arms around Harry’s front and rested his chin on the top of Harry’s head. Theo had spent years feeling too lanky and too tall, but Harry fitted his frame perfectly, like they were built to be together.
“Better?” Theo teased, smiling again as Harry’s cheeks began to stain with pink.
Theo allowed himself to admire Harry through the mirror, from the vibrant green of his eyes, to the gentle curls of his inky black hair, and to his flushed red lips that taste and feel divine. Theo didn’t know how he ever got so lucky to land Harry.
Theo had always been awkward and aloof, and someone that nobody ever looked twice at. But then Harry noticed him, their eyes having met across tables in a Ministry coffee shop one day, and things just progressed from there.
Theo went from having nobody to having Harry, who never failed to make Theo smile, and who knew just what to say whenever Theo needed it. Theo adored everything about Harry, from his wit to his kindness to his smile. Theo’s heart surged every time he saw Harry after spending time apart, and he made Theo happy like nobody else ever had.
They had kept their relationship a secret for a long time, purely because Theo worried that by making an announcement he would only jinx things. Nothing good ever stayed that way for long in his life, but slowly Theo was beginning to realise that he needed to make the most of what he had with Harry, whether it lasted for one more month of the rest of his life.
“I was thinking,” Theo said softly, “about having a meal with all of our friends. Both of us hosting, of course.”
Harry’s eyes gleamed in the mirror. “You mean it? Are you sure you want to do that?”
Harry had never been happy hiding their relationship but he’d always gone along with it for Theo. But seeing how thrilled Harry looked now, Theo knew he couldn’t go back on his words—he didn’t want to go back on his words.
“I want our friends to know about us,” Theo answered. “You make so so happy, Harry, and I want to show that to the world.”
Harry span around furiously in Theo’s arms and kissed him hard, his hands clutching Theo’s arms desperately.
“I love you, Theo,” Harry murmured, dropping his head against Theo’s chest. “So, so much.”
“I love you too,” Theo said back, heart swelling with joy.
