Hello everyone! Welcome back to
rarepair_shorts & happy early spring!
We're going to kick off another low-key fest for the season, adapting it from the old mods, called:
CLUE(do) Ficathon!: a ficathon based on the board game Clue, also known as Cluedo.
According to Wikipedia: The object of the basic game is for players to strategically move around the game board, in the guise of one of the game's characters, collecting clues from which to deduce which suspect murdered the game's perpetual victim: Dr. Black (Mr. Boddy in North American versions), and with which weapon and in what room.
When you think you know the correct combination of person, weapon, and room, you would say, for example: "Miss Scarlet in the dining room with the revolver."
SO WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH OUR FEST?
For this ficathon, we're following the same idea, and your basic prompt is:
_______/________ in the ____________ with the __________
_______/________ is your (rare) pairing, which you will get to choose.
However, we've come up with places and items for you to choose from. We've kept the same number of places and items/"weapons" as are in the game; however, we came up with nine places INSIDE or AROUND Hogwarts, and nine places OUTSIDE Hogwarts. If you don't like the Potter-verse places and items we've come up with, you are welcome to use those of the original game. ETA: Also, if you don't like any of the Potter-fied items and have other ideas, please leave them in a comment and we'll approve it. We'll most likely approve all Potter items but it is a challenge so you know - challenge yourself.
Sign up below with any pairings or ideas you're thinking of doing. Basically: Hey, this sounds neat. I'll be doing Neville/Charlie in Dumbledore's Office with the Dragonhide gloves.
+ You don't have to sign up to participate. This is an all-month low key event and everyone is welcome.
+ Your entry does NOT have to be about solving a murder mystery, but it can be if you'd like it to.
+ Your entry does NOT have to include romance, but it can if you'd like.
+ Your entry can be any genre, any rating.
+ Your entry can be light or dark. Funny or serious.
+ Art is super welcomed!
+ If you're writing fic, minimum 500, maximum 2500. Art can be any medium.
+ Please remember that all pairings must be rare (that is, it is NOT on this list).
Here's the header you can use:
+ The subject line of your entry should be: Ficathon 2017. TITLE. Pairing. Rating.
+ If your entry is of the explicit rating, please post it on your own journal/ao3 and put a link in the header when posting on the community.
+ Also, make sure you include your prompt combination in your Author's Notes when you post your fic/art.
Posting will begin on the 1st of March and the Ficathon will end on the 15th of April. This is a self-posting fest. On February 28, we will make another post with the reminder, and all the tagging instructions.
Feel free to also leave prompts for other people to use! Tomorrow or the day after, we will also have pimping banners for you to promote the fest!
If you are totally confused and have NO CLUE (heh) what's going on, please ask questions!

Date: 2017-02-20 06:56 pm (UTC)I'll be writing Draco/Theo, in Borgin & Burkes, with the pensieve.
And wait...we can actually do NC-17 for this? I'm only asking because I'm used to knowing I can't go past R for this comm, so I want to be absolutely sure before I start planning.

Date: 2017-02-20 09:04 pm (UTC)Thanks for your question.
In order to keep respect for the original creators of this community, we do want to keep the rule of focusing on plot rather than porn. However, two of the new mods discussed this to an extent, and we’re not going to censor anyone and their creativity. Because of this reason, if you want to write an NC-17 short story (maximum word limit is 2500), you are more than welcome to do so.
Just post the header here w/ a link to your journal.
I hope this answers your question,
Thanks

Thanks!

Date: 2017-02-28 04:55 pm (UTC)Quick question: if we want to do more/others, do we have to leave a comment here for each one? Or can we just post with the fest tag attached? Thanks!
