Regulus cleared his throat, brushing back a strand of his black hair. He looked up to his opposite, looked right into her bright green eyes.
"Lily Evans, will you marry me?"
He smiled widely at her, slowly opening the small black box in his hands to reveal one single golden ring, jeweled with countless tiny emeralds.
"I know, it's only one instead of five, but… I hope that this won't influence your answer?"
Lily would only open her mouth, just to close it again, opening it seconds later. "Of course I will!" she whispered.

Nervously she paced around the room, glancing at the door over and over again. He should have returned hours ago, and now it had already gotten dark. She was hardly able to suppress a wince when she finally heard the door open, when she finally heard his steps.
"Regulus Arcturus Black! Where on earth have you been!" Lily shouted, causing him to laugh.
"Nowhere," he said, a wide smile on his face as he revealed a huge bouquet of red roses that he had hidden behind his back. "Just running one last errand. Why?"
Lily's eyes widened with surprise.

She laughed, still overwhelmed by the surprise, waving her hand, symbolizing him to enter. "Excuse me…" she said, laughing again, shaking her head. "Merry Christmas, of course!"
"I just wanted to get you your Christmas present," he said, smiling back at her, laughing, too. He was obviously enjoying her reaction; his surprise had been a success!
"A present?" she asked excitedly. "What is it?"
"It's me."
