Pansy Parkinson stomped loudly across the library, earning her the wrathful glare of Madam Pince and several studying students. But Pansy wasn't paying attention; she was focused singularly on one table in particular, at which two Ravenclaw boys were sitting. "You need to talk to your boyfriend," Pansy sneered at them when she'd reached their side, her furious expression only serving to intensify her pug-like appearance.
Anthony Goldstein and Michael Corner looked up from their textbooks in the same moment; Michael appeared startled, whilst Anthony was grinning. "I assume you're referring to Terry," Anthony said to her.
"Of course I am!" Pansy replied, her voice rising quickly to a shriek. "He's stealing my Draco from me."
"Your Draco?" Michael asked, incredulous. "Draco Malfoy? Who on earth would want him?"
"Our own Terry, apparently," Anthony said, with a little snort of a laugh.
Pansy was not amused. "Stop it," she cried, stamping her foot on the floor. "Tell him he can't go with Draco to the All Hallow's Eve party."
"I wasn't aware we were even having an All Hallow's Eve party," Michael said, idly flicking through the pages of his text.
"That's because you've got your head stuck in your books, mate," said Anthony, reaching over to slam Michael's book shut and pinching several of Michael's fingers in the process; Michael glowered at him, but Anthony kept grinning. "It's been the talk of the school for weeks."
"Yes, and now your Terry has asked my Draco to go with him," Pansy said. "Only he can't, because Draco has to go with me."
"So why don't you just ask Draco to say no? As it's my mate who's done the asking, seems I've already lost control of him," Anthony told her.
"We really need to stop casting Cheering Charms on him, if this is the result," Michael added. "Start practicing on someone else."
"Yeah, looks like you could use one," Anthony said to Pansy. "How about it; join our study group?" He laughed and playfully waved his wand in her general direction.
"You're pathetic," Pansy said to him, sounding on the verge of tears. "I already did ask Draco to go with me, but he hasn't answered me! I need you to stop your friend so Draco can say yes to me, like he's supposed to. If I don't get this I'm going to curse the both of you with something horrible!"
"Like more of your screeching, perhaps," Anthony said.
"Oh, now you've done it," Michael said, as Pansy's face turned an unattractive shade of red. "I think she's going to explode."
"Not in the library she isn't," Anthony replied, as, indeed, Madam Pince had swooped in.
With her apparent sixth sense of catching students about to disrupt her sanctum, the librarian snatched Pansy by the arm and began to drag her off just as Pansy started to scream. "Ravenclaws are a bunch of swotty arses!" Pansy yelled, swinging her arms in the boys' direction and earning herself a handful of dirty looks from the other Ravenclaws in the room.
"I will not have such behavior in this library!" Madam Pince cried, nearly as loud as Pansy. "It's straight to your Head of House, young lady!"
"Wow, Anthony, you almost caught it bad for that one," said Michael, calm as could be as he opened his book again. "Suppose we do talk to Terry about this whole Draco thing?"
Anthony shrugged and leaned back in his seat, twirling his wand in his fingers. "If Terry wants to ask a bratty Slytherin boy to a party, it's no business of mine. In fact, I'm praying he doesn't come complaining to me when he has a dreadful time."
"Fair enough," Michael replied. "Hey, so when was I going to find out about this Halloween party, anyway?"
"When your girlfriend showed up at Ravenclaw tower in a lion costume, probably," Anthony said to him.
"Just because she's in Gryffindor doesn't mean she's going to dress as a lion," Michael said. He looked worried. "You don't think she will, do you?"
Anthony laughed. "It's not too late to beg her not to."
As it turned out, those involved in the library confrontation had possessed some incorrect information. Terry Boot had not asked Draco Malfoy to the Hogwarts All Hallow's Eve party; it was Draco who had asked Terry. "Go with you?" Terry asked, with his eyebrows raised and his arms crossed over his chest. "Whyever for?"
"Because I want you to," Draco said firmly, arrogantly. "What else do I have to say, Boot?"
"A 'please' might be nice," Terry replied, his lips twitching in the beginnings of a hidden smile. "As I may have to spend my Halloween evening elsewhere if you don't."
Draco looked furious. "I never have to say please for anything," he insisted. "I always just get what I want."
"And what you want is me?" Terry smiled at him. "I'm flattered, albeit a little confused, I have to admit."
"Just never mind, then," Draco snapped at him. "I'll ask somebody else."
"Oh, I hope not, I've already got my outfit planned," Terry told him. "I'll be dressing as a fool, as I'd have to be one to say yes to you."
Draco's eyes narrowed. "Feeling clever, are we? How boring. Looks like I'll be attending the party with Blaise after all."
"I never said no," Terry informed him, with a tight little smile. Draco just stared at him. "See you there, Malfoy," Terry said, before turning away.
"You're not funny, Boot!" Draco yelled after him. He paused. "And I'll meet you in the entrance hall at seven!"
And so the Ravenclaw made a date with the Slytherin, and the entire world of Hogwarts was turned upside down. Or at least the world of a few Ravenclaw boys and one angry Slytherin girl, anyway.
Also, Ginny Weasley did not dress as a lion for the party. But that's a whole other story.

Date: 2012-10-28 10:33 am (UTC)the entire world of Hogwarts was turned upside down :D I love how you always write Slytherins born to be repellant towards all the other houses. That's such a hyperbole, truthfully hilarious, wouldn't even have needed the explanation after that. Similar to the lion costume. Ginny should just borrow Luna's lionhead to annoy her boytoy.
