Regarding Challenges

So we've been thinking, and we just want to hear from you: what will it take to get more participation in our ongoing challenges?
We've put up these challenges to motivate you to write something that's perhaps a little out of the ordinary, to tickle your muse in some way. We don't set deadlines because we know how crazy life can be, and because we want to give newer members a chance to participate in the older challenges. We love giving you all the freedom to do the challenges whenever you want, and we don't want to take that away. The challenges aren't meant to cause stress.
We have seen a lot of enthusiasm for the challenges, yet few seem to follow through. This makes us not want to post any more challenges. We could post challenges till we're blue in the face, because we do have a great deal of fun coming up with them - but if no one participates, what's the point?
We would appreciate it if you could take a moment to tell us your thoughts, suggestions, etc. How can we improve our challenges? Should we stop posting challenges altogether? Are you having trouble with the challenges, or are you not excited by the themes? What things would you like to see?
All this would be extremely helpful to us. Thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts! :)
