I left some things out from the main post, partially because I forgot, and partially because all that information in one little space would have been overwhelming. ;)


→ You can certainly do the challenge more than once! :D

→ Let me repeat something from the last post. To use the "Character A/B/C/D" format, A/B and A/C and A/D all must be rare pairings, even if they don't all see each other romantically. The idea is to use characters that you're not used to writing and that you don't often see together.

I've seen a few people put down non-rare pairings and I have replied to those comments, so if you are one of those people, please make sure that changes in your fic.

If you're confused about what's rare or not, look at our official list and pose any questions you have at that post. I would advise everyone signing up for this ficathon to take a good look at the list and make sure that all your pairings are in accordance with it.

→ Deadline for this ficathon is April 15. That gives you about a month.

→ Format your submissions using the following template:
<b>Title:</b> <b>Pairings:</b> A/B, A/C, A/D <b>Rating:</b> <b>Word Count:</b> <b>Summary:</b> (optional) <b>Author's Notes:</b> (optional)

→ Also, title your posts as follows (or similarly):
FICATHON: Title (Pairings)
You may use abbreviations for the pairings. e.g. FICATHON: Today is the Day (GW/ZS, GW/OW, GW/GJ)

→ As far as tags go: your username, "*het" / "*slash" / "*femmeslash" (all that apply), ".ficathon: spring 2009", each of the three pairings.
We will create any tags that do not already exist.

I just want to make sure I understand something before I decide who/what I want to write.

Pairings A/B, A/C, and A/D all have to be rare pairs, I get that. But, there doesn't have to be any romantic feelings between them, right? Say, for example, I use Harry as Character A and Katie as Character B, and I have them be just friends/teammates. As long as together they make up a rare pair, that's fine. Am I getting that right?

Okay, sorry if this is a dumb question, but I have to ask. Are we supposed to write three (one for each pairing) separate ficlets or drabbles, each with a max of 2,000 words? Or is it either a max 2,000 word ficlet containing all three pairings, although we could also do a series of drabbles connecting all three pairings as long as the total word count doesn't exceed 2,000?

I hope that was halfway coherent. D;

Nah, it's either a single ficlet with all the pairings in it with a max of 2,000 words, or a series of drabbles that max out with a combined total of 2,000. God, if it was 2,000 x 3, I would die. XD

I was just wondering, is this challenge still open? I couldn't find a timeline...I saw the deadline was april 15th, but I assume that's just for handing in fics. If signups are closed, that's okay, I was just wondering :)

Gah, I didn't get the comment notice, so I apologize for the extremely late response! It's still open, you can still sign up and write fics and all that - but April 15 is the last day to post fics. :)

What if we go, um, over 2,000 words? Is that completely against the rules? I fail at word counts. :(

As long as you don't go that much more over, don't worry about it. Like say you were at 3,000, then you'd have to cut it down. But we can let 2,500 pass. It's more of a guideline than a strict rule, because we are Rare Pair Shorts, after all. ;)

LOL Yeah. I have a horrible feeling it will be 3,000. But it was such a good rarepair.

I guess I'll cut it for this fest and post the full length version on my own journal once it's over. <3
