Title: Our Tears Will Make No Difference.
Characters/Pairing: Minerva/Augusta
Rating: G
Word Count: 194
Summary: Minerva knew that she was begging, but she couldn't care less.
"We could stay together! We could move to Hogsmeade, open a shop, a school, anything! We would find. Together, I'm sure we would find something." Minerva knew that she was begging, but she couldn't care less.
Augusta stood very straight, biting the inside of her jaws so as not to let her friend's emotion get at her.
"Augusta!" Minerva held an arm out, but the young woman stepped back, already putting distance between them.
"It can't happen, Minnie. Father wrote me to come back home, he… he has found a good match for me. If I suit him, we'll be wed before the end of the year."
"Then don't suit him!"
Sad smile. "You knew things would end like this, Minnie."
"Only because you allow them to, Augusta, please…"
But the witch turned around, seemingly untouched by the plea. Hand on the doorknob, she pressed her forehead against the panel for a moment. She would have wanted to be as strong as Minerva was, but she couldn't, she simply couldn't. She ran out, in spite of the tears blinding her.
After all, little did it matter if she broke her neck in the stairway.

This is a very unexpected pairing, though I'm glad you chose to write Augusta - we don't often get to see her! :D Well done, m'dear.

Date: 2008-08-30 10:03 pm (UTC)I had written Minerva and Augusta in a gen drabble earlier, and I guess that my mind remembered the association. I like Augusta, so there's a reasonable chance that I'll write her again. And you know how it is - once you start writing a pairing, you get more ideas for writing it again. Thank you for commenting. (And with Clive, each time ♥)
