This will be a low pressure fest which runs from the 1st-31st October, and will have the same format and rules as the Festive Fun Fest. As a reminder they are under the cut below. You reply to this post with your wishlist. Your wishlist can be as long and as specific as you want (within reason, of course - please contain your list to one comment), but must contain requests for ficlets (or art) of rare pairings – pairings. You can look at last year's wishlist from other members to get an idea of what it COULD look like. This is the Dreamwidth Post from last year w/ same samples of wishes.

ANNOUNCING THE ANNUAL - SUMMER WISHLIST EVENT @ rarepair_shorts + rarepair_shorts

How The Event Works: The Wishlist Event wants to to bring you lots of writing fun! [AND ART].

This event runs in two parts. Part 1 – You make a wish list. On May 15, we will make a post where all members will be encouraged to post their wishes about what kind of fic/art they’d like. It’s open to all rare-pairs and gen fics (and art). The signup for the wishes is from May 15-30.

Your wish will be hidden from the general public until May 31. On May 31, we will do the big reveal and everyone can see who wished for what.

Part 2 – Members will be encouraged to fill those wishes from June 1 until August 31.

There is no obligation in this event. If you post a wishlist, you don't need to grant other people's wishes; similarly, if you don't post a wishlist, you may still grant others' wishes.

Your wishlist can be as long and as specific as you want (within reason, of course - please contain your list to one comment), but must contain requests for ficlets (or art) of rare pairings.

After MAY 30 (10 pm Eastern Time), no one else may post a wishlist. If you do post a wishlist, you may certainly edit or add to it at any time before May 30th. (This only applies to people who have logged in w/ an account to post a wishlist. If you post a wishlist anonymously, you CANNOT edit it. We recommend everyone to have an account. For new members, I also encourage people to have a DREAMWIDTH account and use the DREAMWIDTH format for this fest - as I try to encourage people away from LJ).

Please note, there is no wishing format. You can post your wish in any style you want. Pairing specific prompts. List of prompts. List of pairings. – The wishing will begin on May 15.

For gifts, all fic must be between 200 to 2000 words. No more than that. There is no obligation in this event. You may write as many fics for as many people as you like. More than one person may grant the same wish.

If you have never participated before, and have questions, you can ask below. Comments will be screened. When we answer your question, we will unscreen them. We are both on Livejournal and Dreamwidth. Please note, on May 15, we will post more information. But we welcome questions.

Hello everyone!

It's that time of year again and we're hope that you are excited for another round of the Harry Potter rarepair_shorts Winter Exchange fest!

We are posting the signup sheet before the main signup post again. As with previous years, we will try our hardest to make sure we pair you with someone who can do your preferred method, but it may not be possible for everyone to get their first choice as it depends on who signs up.

As you know the Winter Exchange is an anonymous exchange for rare pairs in the Harry Potter fandom where the mods match up requests with another participant, who then writes the requested fic/art. All participants receive a fic or art based on their request/prompt. The authors/artists are anonymous until all the entries have been posted.

This year's timeline and basic rules:

5th October 2020: Sign-ups open
19th October 2020: Sign-ups close
26th October 2020: Assignments sent out
14th December 2020: Assignments due
24th December 2020: Posting begins


As per the comm rules, only rare pairs are allowed (please see this post for excluded pairings). Minimum word count is 500, maximum 2500 words for fics. Art must be traditional style and it must show that it's more than a simple drawble. For this exchange fest, we will not be accepting photo-manips.

NC-17 material is allowed, but please remember that there should be some plot rather than just smut. The focus is on your recipient's desire more than anything else.

Extensions will still be granted but on a case by case basis only. Extensions will last no longer than two weeks after the deadline before you assignment is given to a pinch hitter.

People who signed up last year but dropped out without telling us are not eligible to participate this year.

Hello everyone!

You have five more days to sign up for the fest, and twelve to post for it. Remember there is no pressure whatsoever to post if you signed up. We understand that RL comes first.

A masterlist will go up the day after the fest is over so you will be able to see the entries in one place.

The Mods

The fest will run from February 24th - April 27th 2020. Sign ups will close at 11:59pm GMT on April 20th. This is to give you plenty of time to produce something you're happy with. Please remember that this is NOT the sign up post. The Sign up post will go up on February 24th when the fest starts.
