"Hannah?" Kevin stood at the kitchen island.
"Yes?" Hannah looked up from chopping parsley.
"I am hungry." Hannah sighed and added the green to a pile of previously chopped herbs.
"Have an apple then."
"But I am really, really hungry."
"Kevin, what is your point?" Hannah said, rolling her eyes.
"Can't you just ... you know, charm the lamb." Kevin fidgeted and looked to the ground, fingertips running along the edge of the island.
"Kevin, no! The only time I did it it tasted disgusting."
"Really?"
"Yes, really."
"Oh." "I might have a sandwich then."
"Seriously. You are a walking food processor. Let me add the herbs to the lamb."
"What are you adding this time?"
"Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme."
"No mint this time?"
"No."
"Why?"
"Because I wanted to try it and you seemed to enjoy the Mediterranean chicken in the restaurant last week."
"That's right. That chicken was delicious."
"See?"
"Hm."
"Hannah?"
"Yes?" Hannah began to sound annoyed.
"I have a much better idea to use the time until the lamb is done than eating a sandwich." Kevin had a glint in his eyes.
"Oh and that is?"
He crooked a finger and urged her to come forward. "Come here and I show you."
When the smell of roasted lamb, parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme waved through the kitchen, neither of the couple paid much attention. When the kitchen clock rang, Hannah stood up from the couch and rightened her top before she went and pulled the dish out of the oven.
"Hungry. Mr Entwhistle?"
"Not at all, Ms Abbott. Come back."
"Gladly, Mr Entwhistle."
