Title:Spiced Wine and Blood
Pairing: Harry Potter/ Bloody Baron
Rating: R
Word Count: 1236
Summary: When Harry falls in a time alcove he sees the story unfold with his own eyes: it’s when he discovers blood can paint passion and that Lady Grey only tells her side of the story.
Author's Notes: The time alcove concept was taken from lilyyuri’s Jaded story on ff.net. The Bloody Baron name and state name come from a Scottish Barons name list (the state is in the city the Wiki tells is a probable neighbour of Hogwarts).

At first Harry doesn’t see much difference when he walks out of the Honeydukes passage, but when he hits someone and sees the different robes and the way the corridor is almost empty don’t really match with how Hogwarts should be with the end of his eight year, he looks to man that keeps staring at him.

He is using wizard robes, but Harry can see the armor beneath shining when the sun hits it from the tall windows; windows that look weirdly clean and new, without the weird reused quality the whole castle acquired after the Final battle, everyone is still trying to make them got back to what they used too, but it seems the castle magic wants to show the signs of the battle.

“My lord, my lord, Lady Rowena wishes to speak with you in her rooms.” Harry looks behind the man and sees a woman dressed in a medieval dress so similar to Lady Gray that he would think they were the same, wasn’t the fact this woman had light hair.

“No need to shout, Milady Ollivander, I shall go to her after I drop this strange visitor at Lord Gryffindor’s.” Harry looked scared for a second, where the hell was him or better what time? He let the man drag him, but only because he didn’t seem to want to hear Harry with his face permanently closed off.

Later, after Gryffindor let him out his quarters, promising he would hunt out the time alcove that brought Harry to the Founders Time to send him back, he went to the kitchen to eat something, hoping he wouldn’t stay long. It was weird being here and knowing of the dangers of time traveling from Hermione’s extensive blabbing in the third year, Harry wanted to keep away from trouble.

He discovered the man who took him to Gryffindor was the Bloody Baron, or least the original man that became the Slytherin Ghost. Sir James of Conwaith, the Baron of Conwaith had been serving the castle insuring protection to the new students and was called by Lady Rowena to find her daughter Helena. Harry knew how this would end and his stomach twisted knowing he couldn’t do anything to stop it.

When he reached the kitchen the Baron was seated eating a plate of hot stew, bread and wine poured in a silver goblet. He mentioned Harry to sit and told one of the servants to bring food to the boy. It was so strange to hear his voice, as a ghost he never spoke and instead of Harry’s rust impression, it was presently low and rich to hear.

“I gather Gryffindor let you stay even if you trespassed the castle’s grounds, if Lord Slytherin had been here he would not let you stay; perhaps your head would adorn his quarters.” Sir James smirked and started to tell bloody tales of his and his lord’s incursions trying to protect Hogwarts.

Strangely this man was funny when he told about fool men that died horrible deaths and Harry found himself asking many questions; he would tease Hermione merciless when he got back with all this information he bet wasn’t in Hogwarts: A History.

A week later, Harry was tired of walking aimlessly through the corridors and while Sir James was very interesting, he had a lot of places to be. Harry liked their talks before he went to bed, just getting warm in front of the fire and talking about the Forbidden Forest and the strange creatures of the Lake.

Sir James took him the day before to his home state and Harry saw a village that he was sure would become Hogsmeade in later years. It was riding in the Baron’s horse, holding his waist, that Harry realised he didn’t think about Ginny worrying with his disappearance and that even if he was bored most of the time, Sir James brusque and sarcastic ways where nicer than his girlfriends talks about a future wedding between them.

“Don’t let the flying monsters enter your mouth, or you will find yourself with a buzzing in the ear for the rest of your life, young Harry.” Closing his mouth, Harry smiled and accepted the goblet the Baron offered him, the wine was mixed with water and spice, which was good because Harry could get drunk with butterbeers.

Sir James got up and went to look through the window and told in a low voice of his trip to find Lady Helena, one he would have to take in the next few days, since Lady Rowena’s health been getting worst. Harry looked at his goblet, seeing how the flames of the fire cast in the red liquid, when he looked up, the Baron was in front on him, his eyes dark. When the goblet rolled to the floor, spilling in the floor like blood, they didn’t even realise, occupied with mouths and hands roaming in each other bodies and the Baron pinning Harry to the bed they walked blindly after a few seconds of frantic movement.

When Harry fell asleep naked being held by James, his dreams were haunted by Lady Grey’s screams.

One week passed and they expend the most time they could in the Baron’s quarters, sharing meals at the kitchen or preparing for his trip. When finally Sir James hadn’t anything more to delay the trip, Harry kissed him in the stables and said goodbye, knowing the next time he saw him, it would be the Slytherin House Ghost and not the man that held him every night.

That night he dreamt and it wasn’t a normal dream. He saw Lady Helena and her arrogance when she told the Baron he wasn’t viril enough nor intelligent enough to be her husband. Harry saw the Baron eyes narrow and his hands curl into fists, all gentleness gone, replaced by fury. It was when the blade punctured her heart he saw James scream and curse, his eyes filling with sorrow as he realised what he done.

Harry woke up screaming, the blade not only going against James torso, but his throat and that was when he finally knew what the Bloody Baron never spoke, he couldn’t. He cried all night, feeling cold and alone. When morning came, he begged Godric to send him back and when the wizard smiled sadly at Harry, he knew from where his dream had come.

Hermione look at Harry’s tired face and continued to fuss with him and try to get information about Hogwarts first years. She saw the haunted look at her friends face and how he seemed sad. Ginny tried everything to cheer him up and left his room after the second day when Harry broke up with her.

She watched silently when Harry smiled sadly at the Bloody Baron that for the first time seemed not to be angry or cruel, but had a mirror smile to Harry’s. She realised Harry would have met the Baron, and that if the way the ghost tried to touch Harry’s face was any tip, they shared something.

She would wait and when Harry went back to his room she would get the whole story; Harry needed a friend now and Hermione passed way too much by his side to let him waste away. It was time to get her forceful side upped a notch.
