Draco looks completely out of place in the office, his stately robes far too dark and gleaming for the messy and brightly-lit room he's in. Ginny raises an eyebrow as she sidles up to him, her eyes moving from his platinum hair to his expensive shoes. "Can I help you, Malfoy?" Her voice drips with playful sarcasm.
He is not happy to see her. "Weasley." He barely manages to force a smile; Ginny stifles a giggle at the sight of it. "I'm here to see Miss Greengrass, if you would fetch her for me." His words are clipped.
"Ah." Ginny's grin fades. She turns away from him, scanning the cubicles. "That's a bit of a disappointment."
"How so?" Draco demands.
She shakes her head. "Astoria isn't here." Her eyes are wide when she looks back at him. "I never knew you two were an item."
Now the disgust is plain on his face. "It's not exactly public knowledge, but I wouldn't expect her to have told you anything of it, anyway."
"Why, because I'm so obviously beneath her?" Ginny laughs. "Oh, Mr. Malfoy, if only you knew." She leaves him with an enigmatic wink and a flip of her hair.
That afternoon, over matching salads and glasses of wine, Astoria lifts her gaze to Draco with a quizzically innocent expression. "Ginny Potter?" The name flows off her tongue. "I suppose we're somewhat friendly. Why do you ask?"
Draco frowns, uncertain. "No reason."
Astoria smiles mysteriously.
