I love this on so many levels.

You stayed true to the characters and managed to write Peter the way I see him: someone forcing themselves to belong, just searching for the comradeship that seems to come so easily to everyone else. Peter's downfall being his eagerness to please, to belong, no matter who he has to lie to or betray was conveyed beautifully here. I really enjoyed how tragic this was.

My favourite lines are:

I scarcely believe Black’s ramblings on that fateful night because I’ve believed for half of my schooling that he had a nasty, murderous edge and that it should have been plain to everyone he was raving mad. That’s what too much inbreeding leads to, I suppose.

Everyone always forgets the sidekick.

He and I, could have been friends. But fate’s hand would rather have us hate so that there can be someone to put on a pedestal. The men who can be held up as shining examples of people who have only had to endure normalcy, who have had lives of no importance at all.

I was seriously not expecting a fic with Peter in it, so this has made me ridiculously happy. Thank you so much!
