"Good news, Amos, my love," said Lucius, sweeping into Amos's office with a devastatingly handsome smirk on his face.
"Oh?" Amos quirked an eyebrow, not wanting Lucius to see how his presence pleased him so. "And what may that be, Malfoy?"
"I am dissolving my marriage to Narcissa," Lucius declared, his hands splayed across Amos's desk. His eyes gleamed. "I am pledging myself to you entirely."
Amos rocked back in his chair with a shocked gasp. "What?"
"You heard me correctly, my dear." Lucius sat on the edge of the desk, his silken robes draped elegantly over the corner as he flashed his brilliant white teeth at Amos in glee. "I am yours completely."
"Lucius." Amos spluttered, unable to move, unable to speak properly at the announcement.
"No need to thank me," Lucius replied, waving a hand in Amos's direction. "Simply do the same with your own pointless marriage, and we shall be free together, as one being."
"I," Amos said, his hands sweating, his heart racing. "Lucius, I—."
"Hush," said Lucius, coming quickly around the desk and kneeling beside Amos's chair. He took Amos's hand and kissed it tenderly. "Be my only, Amos Diggory. Be my love."
"Lucius, I can't," Amos whispered. "How could you do this? Don't you realize what this means? What Narcissa will tell people? We're ruined, Lucius. You've ruined us."
Lucius stared at Amos, his smirk widening as his grey eyes gleamed beautifully in the light. "I believe I've gotten you, Amos."
"Pardon?" Amos felt as though we were choking.
Lucius had the audacity to laugh. "I've tricked you," he said. "Quite brilliantly, if I do say so. The look on your face was fantastically amusing."
Amos felt his heart jolt as a stab of heat punctured his stomach. "Lucius, you are terrible, in a million ways."
"Thank you," Lucius said with a grin, as he rose to his feet. "I do so enjoy making you squirm, Amos."
"I should have known. As though a Malfoy would ever abandon propriety."
"Much like a Diggory, I would have to say," Lucius shot back quickly. "It is telling, isn't it, that in the face of my joy and freedom, you thought only of your own reputation."
"Not only," said Amos, though he felt his face flush.
