"Hey, Angie."

Angelina dropped the boxes she'd been holding and spun around to face George Weasley. "Oh," she said, one hand on her heart, "you really scared me."

George grinned at her. "Sorry about that." He leaned against a display case of some sort and looked curiously at the boxes strewn across the table. "I hope you're planning on buying that," he said jovially. "I've got enough to handle without cleaning your messes."

"I can see that," said Angelina, looking around her. The shop was filled to bursting with people, mostly young teenagers clustered about in their various cliques. Angie had already seen and spoken to Ron, George's youngest brother, who was helping out with the summer rush before he began his Auror training with Harry Potter. "You're an honest success, Weasley."

"We try." George looked away for a moment, seemingly at nothing, and turned back to her with a serious expression. "What exactly are you doing here, anyway? I can't say you're here for an 'old times' chat; I've been in here all the while and you haven't even said hello."

She frowned. "I hadn't seen you." She began gathering up her things. "I was just looking for a present. It's Katie's birthday next week and she really needs a laugh. I like these daydream charms you've got."

"Daydream Charms? Ah, yes," said George, coming to stand beside her. He picked up the box and stared at it fondly. "These are very popular with the young ladies. I suppose I can't begrudge you or Katie for wanting some peace to dream about handsome men such as myself." He winked at her.

Angelina scoffed. "Hardly. More like beautiful women, if you catch my drift. Katie can't get enough of me when I'm around; this is to satisfy her while I'm away."

George laughed as he began straightening the shelf. "Where are you planning on going, then?"

"Quidditch, of course. Open tryouts are coming up, and I thought I'd give it a go."

"Oh, you'll be brilliant, Ang." George clapped her on the shoulder. "Listen, why don't we have one of those 'old times' chats? I've got some hilarious stories about Oliver you can't have heard yet. Fancy going out for a drink tonight?"

Angelina sighed and placed a vial of something blue back on its shelf. "I don't know, George, I've got some serious practicing to do, and I already told Katie I'd be home for dinner." She brightened. "Unless she'd like to come along, if that's all right?"

"Angelina, nothing would be grander. However," and George trailed off, tossing the rest of the errant boxes haphazardly upon the shelves. Running a hand through his hair, he sighed and looked around the shop before again focusing on Angie. "I thought you might like to share a night with me. Just the two of us."

"Ah," said Angelina, smiling despite herself. "George, you really are clueless, you know that?"

"How so?" He asked, taken aback.

"Well, let's see. I live in a small flat with Katie Bell, I promised her I'd be home for dinner, and hello?" She tapped him on the arm with the Daydream Charm package. "I'm buying her this so she'll dream about me. Think about it."

George stared at her, wide-eyed. "You must be joking."

Now she was becoming frustrated. "I assure you, I'm not." She placed a hand on her hip and raised her eyebrows.

"But you were dating blokes in school. Fred, for one."

"I went to the Yule Ball with him in sixth year," said Angelina, "and I spent the entire time wondering where Katie was. It wasn't really very hard to figure out, George."

"Look, just, just come out with me, anyway," he said, smiling at her in a way that surely was meant to win her over. Angelina sighed. "Just a couple of old friends," George continued earnestly. "We'll have a couple of drinks, talk about Quidditch, and then you'll go home to your bird and we'll all be happy. What do you say?" He leaned in close and looked down at the Daydream Charm. "There's a ten percent discount in it for you."

Angelina rolled her eyes and shook her head. Something twisted in her gut, some little voice crying about ulterior motives, but Angie had known George forever; he was nothing more than old of her oldest friends. He knew that, she knew that, and what was wrong with having a drink with an old friend? Katie couldn't mind, and next time they'd invite the blonde girl along. "All right," she relented.

"Excellent," said George, snatching the Daydream box from her. "Ron, clear the second register!"

"But not tonight, George!" Angie cried, following George quickly through the crowded store; it was difficult to keep up with him, he was moving so swiftly. "I'll be back in a few days, you understand? Perhaps the weekend?"

George dashed behind the counters and beamed at her as he rang in her purchase. "Of course," he said warmly. "I'll be here whenever you're ready."
