It's time for the Winter Fic Exchange!

The year is slowly but unrelentingly drawing to a close; for us this means: It's time for the
rarepair_shorts Winter Fic Exchange!
The Winter Exchange is an anonymous exchange.
Participants submit a request, with prompt ideas such as characters, situations, and themes. The mods match these requests with another participant, who then writes the requested fic. All participants receive a fic based on their request/prompt. The authors are anonymous until all the stories have been posted.
This year's timeline and basic rules:
22 November 2012: Sign-ups open
29 November 2012: Sign-ups close
2 December 2012: Assignments are sent out.
23 December 2012: Assignments are due.
1 January 2013: Posting begins.
As per the comm rules, only rare pairs (please see this post for excluded pairings) and fics with a rating no higher than R are allowed. Minimum word count is 500, maximum 2500 words.
To give you some idea of how the exchange works and what fantastic creations our participants produced, check out the masterlists of the previous exchanges: 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011.
Interested? Ready to sign up? Check out the information below the cut.
Please read through this post carefully before asking questions. There is a lot of information to sift through, because everything you need to know is in this post. There have been no major changes made to the rules this year, but it's a good idea to read them through even if you've participated in this fest before, just to refresh your memory.
( Everything you need to know. )
SIGN-UPS WILL BE OPEN UNTIL 29 NOVEMBER.
If you have any questions whatsoever, email us at the mod account or reply to this post. Comments to this post are screened and may be unscreened at the mods' discretion if we think the information is useful for other participants as well. If you need to ask about your specific assignment once you have received it, please email us.
Please let others who aren't yet members of the comm know about the exchange. The more the merrier. Promotional banners will be provided shortly.
