Ficathon!

Hey everyone! First off, we'd just like to thank you all for giving your input on summer events. We really love you for your enthusiasm! ♥

By popular demand, we now introduce to you the first event of the summer: The Number Game Ficathon! :D

We have compiled two lists - one of male characters (67 total males), and one of female characters (40 total females). All the characters are at least quasi-substantial - that means you won't get anyone overly obscure.

The lists are sorted randomly, and each character has been assigned a number on their respective lists.

Based on the information you provide us, you will be given several random rare pairings to work with. We have you choose seven numbers to ensure you'll get at least one pairing that is doable/not squicky, and because we will throw out any non-rare pairings you happen to generate. You may then choose the one pairing you like best and write a fic that's at least 500 words and no more than 1500 words. Please post it to the community - making sure you follow general posting rules.

So, to split things into easy and hard, you have two options.
Option #1 [easy]: Select one character you feel comfortable working with.
Option #2 [hard]: Leave the pairings you get entirely up to chance.

Reply to this post using the following form:

1.
-Specify whether you'd like to take Option #1 or Option #2. If taking Option #1, name the character you'd like to work with.
2.
-If taking Option #1, give us seven numbers (1-67 for males, 1-40 for females). After each number, specify whether you'd like het, slash, or femmeslash.
-If taking Option #2, give us seven pairs of numbers. After each pair, specify whether you'd like het, slash, or femmeslash. If choosing het, the first number will correspond to a male character, and the second number will correspond to a female character.

Here's a couple of example forms:

1. Option #1 - Lavender Brown
2. 1 [het], 4 [het], 18 [het], 25 [femmeslash], 36 [femmeslash], 38 [femmeslash], 67 [het]

1. Option #2
2. 1/3 [slash], 12/9 [slash], 58/34 [het], 22/22 [het], 45/35 [het], 40/31 [femmeslash], 5/18 [femmeslash]

We will reply to your comments telling you the pairings you generated - excluding those that happen to be non-rare.

Our replies will be screened, so please don't share with others which pairings you got. We don't want people to figure out which numbers correspond with which characters - that just spoils the fun. :D

You have until June 25 to sign up and get your pairings, and until July 25 to finish up your fics.

Questions should also be directed at this post.

Have at it and have fun!

I hate to be a bother, but I'm
a.) impatient/overeager and
b.) working with a time restraint.

that said, when do I get to find these out? ._.; sorry if I'm being a pain.

[identity profile] peskywhistpaw.livejournal.com 2008-06-19 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
Val's replied to everybody's comment with a screened comment listing the resulting pairings. You're not able to see it, I guess, but you should be able to see it in your email notification or in your LJ messages... But I'll message you with yours, regardless.

Sorry for this, but I've just completed my fic, and I've rated it NC-17, which I literally just read can't be here. I tend to rate higher, so would it be possible for someone to look it over, and let me know if it's actually an R? I can e-mail it to anyone and then post it if it's approved for an R. Sorry to cause so much trouble with my first post. Thanks.

[identity profile] chimbomba.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you referring to the Charlie/Fleur fic you just posted? If so, it's fine as an R. NC-17 usually is just PWP, and as you've got more than just carnage going on, you're safe. :D

[identity profile] ceirdwenfc.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, thanks. I checked with my beta for her opionion, so I hoped it would be all right. Thanks for responding.

Can I still start now? :)

Hi! I only just came across this community- it sounds really interesting, and although it's been a few days since the deadline, can I please sign up for it as well? I'd really like to write one... :)

Sure, no problem! The deadline is mainly so people get their act together and sign up sooner rather than later. ;)

Just reply with your numbers and I'll reveal what you generated! :D
