Spring Trope Challenge 2023 - Rules and Sign-up Post
Hello everyone and welcome to the Spring Trope Challenge at
rarepair_shorts. The Ao3 collection is here. This will be a low pressure event which runs from March 1 - April 30. Feel free to join us on Discord.We have a list of 60 randomly generated tropes. There are three levels to the challenge (easy, medium, and hard). For the easy level, give us one number from the list, medium level two numbers, and the hard level three numbers. Your fic can be inspired by the tropes or all tropes can actually be present in it, the choice is up to you.
Reply to this post and (1) Specify what level you want (easy, medium, or hard); then (2) Give us random number/s, which will correspond to the tropes/s you will receive based on your level. For example:
Option # 1: Easy, 34
Option # 2: Medium, 22, 46
Option # 3: Hard, 10, 35, 57
We will reply to your comment telling you your trope/s.
Like the last time, your comments will be screened, and our comments will be visible. Please don't share with others which numbers you chose. We don't want people to figure out which numbers correspond with which tropes - that spoils the fun. If you pick more than one prompt then we will provide them alphabetically rather than by corresponding number.

Other things you need to know
1. You can choose any pairing you want so long as it's not on this list.
2. The minimum word count for this fest is 250 words, and the maximum is 2500 words.
3. You may sign up as many times as you want, but we do ask that you complete your previous prompt before signing up for another one, unless you default as specified below.
4. You can change your prompt up to three times if you really feel that you can’t work with it. Just leave another comment stating you would like new prompts.
5. Sign ups are open through April 30 if you work best with a last-minute challenge, but the Ao3 collection will close promptly on April 30!
6. This fest is low pressure so if you sign up but can’t complete it for any reason you will not be penalized in any way. We will not track it.
