A wolf howled in the distance, and Draco whimpered at the sound, clutching Terry's arm as they made their way carefully over fallen tree branches. "Why do I keep finding myself outdoors with you, Boot?" Draco hissed, angry because he was frightened. "It's not safe out here. My parents would kill you if they knew you were dragging me out here."

"It's not much farther," Terry said, sounding as casual as if he were in the middle of the Quidditch pitch on the brightest day of the year. As things stood, he was in the Forbidden Forest in the dead of night, surrounded by creeping shadows and the scurrying noises of whatever magical creatures lurked beyond them. Draco really couldn't understand Terry's blasé manner. He had to be stupider than a Gryffindor, and Draco hadn't thought such a thing was possible. "Just past this section of trees here."

"We're going to get killed," Draco said. "Is that what your friend wants? I think he's trying to get rid of me so he can have you for himself."

"Will you stop worrying? There's nothing out here we can't handle."

"I thought you were smarter than this," Draco insisted. "I thought you didn't let your idiotic friends lead you into trouble. I can't believe I chose you. Right now I think I'd be better off loving a Hufflepuff."

"Oh, do you love me, Draco?" Terry stopped in between the trees.

Draco spluttered and tripped over a tree root, arms flailing as he stumbled and just barely managed to avoid falling flat on his face. "I never said that," he snapped, "and don't laugh at me!"

But Terry was laughing, the git, and Draco clenched his fists furiously as he debated how to handle the situation. He should just turn around and march back up to the castle, where he'd be safe and away from stupid Terry. But Draco couldn't seem to move. Things almost looked romantic suddenly, Terry smiling at him in a patch of silver moon, the light cast softly upon the forest floor and Terry standing there in the middle of it looking far too fit for anybody's good. "You're making this up to me later," Draco said, struggling to sound angry even as he felt his fury fading.

"But of course," Terry replied. "Look, it's right over there." He pointed.

Nestled under a particularly small tree was a set of glistening vials filled with some sort of potion that Draco couldn't recognize. Terry retrieved them carefully and walked back over to where Draco was standing with his arms crossed over his chest. "Don't worry, Draco," Terry said. "Anthony is going to pay for sending us on this little chore. But he does claim forest moonlight is the perfect catalyst for magical reactions. I suppose we'll see once we test this strengthening potion on him."

"I hope it poisons him," Draco said fiercely. He hated Anthony Goldstein, and he saw this whole thing as just a trick to get Draco out into the dangerous woods to be mauled. Still, as he watched Terry walk back through the woods, with the moonlight playing off his skin, Draco decided there was something to this claim of magical catalysts, anyway. He was certainly having a reaction, at least.

Oh, I learned a new word, blasé manner, and I think it would describe Draco pretty well, too. Poor Draco, so traumatised by the forest... and then he has to fight against romance blossoming in that environment. Adorable, and I like the images.
