This? This is for my girlfriend, mate. Y'see, I have the greatest girlfriend in the world. Millicent Bulstrode. You might know her better as Maleficent + the Thestrals? Yeah, that's my girl. I met her at one of her gigs. To tell you the truth, I was on a date. The witch I was with was a massive fan and couldn't believe I'd never seen one of Millie's shows. She was alright; my date, I mean. But once Millie got on stage, I was entranced. She's curvier than Rosmerta, my Millie is, and all those curves were stuffed into this tight black dress. Now that was enough to make lil' Charlie perk up, if you know what I'm saying, but then she started to sing. She's got this sexy throaty voice but it's not all sex kitten. It's almost like a conversation; like you and she are sharing a private joke. Well, you know, mate. And let me tell you, it's good on the Wireless, but that's nothing compared to seeing her live.
So, as soon as I could, I dropped my date. Not too proud of that, but I was already half in love with Millie. But this was the tricky part. How to get her to notice me. Now, I'm not a half-bad looking bloke, but she's a bloody rock star. She must get all kinds of wizards falling over themselves trying to get a shot with her. Some of those blokes are going to be pretty fit, yeah? Law of averages, and all that rubbish. So I'll be honest, I was a bit intimidated at first. But I figured it couldn't be any harder than working with dragons. Yep, I'm a dragon keeper. See this tat here? That's my baby, Norberta. Raised her practically from a hatchling, I did. She's had 10 of her own now, bless her. Anyway, back to Millie. Turns out Maleficent + the Thestrals were playing at the same bar the next night. So I went back, slipped a few Galleons to the right people and was able to get backstage.
I'd like to say that I wowed her with my charm or my dragon keeper tales, but truthfully, we were both really horny. I'd barely said my name before she'd jumped me. Not that I minded, but it was a bit unexpected. We ended up shagging twice on the floor of her dressing room before Apparating back to her flat. She told me later that she'd planned on shagging me rotten and then kicking me out, but when I made her breakfast and offered to darn her socks, she thought I was a keeper. Hey, don't look at me like that. Knitting is an extremely manly hobby.
Anyway, we've been together ever since. It hasn't always been easy. She goes on tour sometimes and it's not fun, being away from her for weeks at a time. Plus she's always got wizards trying to get into her knickers. I know she'd never go for any of them; Millie's faithful, she is, but it tries my patience, thinking about them. I was worried about what my family would think of her, her being a Slytherin and her father being in Azkaban and all. She'd had a few bust ups back at Hogwarts with my brother Ron's wife, too. Hermione's still not crazy about her but Mum adores her. The Wizarding musical community is a pretty small one, so Millie's good mates with Celestina Warbeck. They go to Celestina's concerts together now and sit in the VIP area up front. Dad loves it. He's not a Celestina fan himself so he was overjoyed to find out he wouldn't have to go to the concerts anymore. Plus it makes Mum happy and anything that does that is a-okay with him. My older brother Bill and his wife Fleur were already fans so she won them over easily enough.
It sounds pretty perfect, I guess. It's not. I mean, most of the time, it's bloody brilliant, being with her. But we fight, like all couples. She won't wear socks to bed, so I get freezing cold feet nestled under lil' Charlie in the middle of the night. That's an unpleasant wake-up call, I don't mind saying. I have a habit of drinking straight from the jug. What can I say? I've been single for a long time, mate. It's small stuff, though.
What? Oh right, the box. That's what you asked me about. Sorry. I tend to get a bit rambly when I talk about my Millie. You might have figured this out already, but I'm barmy for her. There may be other witches in the world, but she's the witch for me. So I got her this. Isn't it nice? Fleur helped me pick it out. Apparently, it's made by the finest French goblins or something. I don't really care about that. I just hope she says yes. You think so? Cheers, mate. I'm going to ask her now, actually. We've dinner reservations over at Godric's. Blimey, I should get going. Don't want to be late. How much for the pint?
