Announcing the annual Summer Wishlist Event at Rare Pair Shorts!

This event runs in two parts.



Starting today, May 10, you can post your wishlist as a comment on this post. The event is open to all rare-pair fics and art as long as the ship is not on the banned list. Please note that unless you specify "fic only" or "art only," your wish is open to be filled by either or both formats. The signup for the wishes is from May 10-30.

+ BANNED PAIRING LIST

There is no wishing format. You can post your wish in any style you want: pairing-specific prompts; list of general prompts; list of pairings. Your wishlist can be as long and as specific as you want (within reason, of course - please contain your list to one comment), but must contain requests for rare pairings. Feel free to browse past lists for ideas - here for 2022 and here for 2021.

Please specify your ao3 username in your wishlist. Also note that ao3 has changed the rules about gift fic. If you are posting a wishlist, please check your ao3 preferences to ensure you accept gifts from unassigned creators. You can check this setting by navigating to your AO3 page, clicking 'Preferences', and clicking 'Allow anyone to gift me works' under 'Collections, Challenges and Gifts'.

Alternatively, you can post a wishlist anonymously if you do not want to receive gift fic on your ao3 account. However, you will not be able to change your wishlist after you post it (you cannot add to or edit anonymous/guest comments on DW).

Your wish will be hidden from the general public until May 31. On May 31, we will reveal the lists and everyone can see who wished for what.



Everyone is encouraged to fill wishes from June 1 until August 31.

There is no obligation in this event. If you post a wishlist, you don’t need to grant other people’s wishes; similarly, if you don’t post a wishlist, you may still grant others’ wishes. However, we do ask that you post your wishlist anonymously if you have no intention of reading and commenting on gift fic created for you in this event.

After May 30, wishlists are closed and you may no longer add to or edit yours.

For gifts, all fic must be between 200 to 2000 words. You may write as many fics for as many people as you like. More than one person may grant the same wish.

Reply to this post with your wishlist! Even if you only ship 2 or 3 pairings — don't worry! Put in a wish. This is your chance to be selfish without any obligation!

Your comments will be screened to begin with. It means that no one can see your wishlist except for you and the mods until May 30. If you post something and it disappears, don't freak out. Don't post multiple times. If you post your wishlist anonymously, it will disappear, and you won't be able to see it. (But we will be able to see it, and it will be revealed on May 31).

Update: please specify your ao3 user name in your wishlist to make things easier for everyone in part 2, even if it is the same as your dreamwidth handle. If you don't want creations gifted to you on ao3, please say that instead. Thank you!!
