"Darling, I want the whole world at your feet, " says Valborg. Well, she used the B word, but we're in public after all.

And who would I be to not fully subscribe to her? I love this, and "lovely Sunday Morning sneak preview" hits the nail on the head much better than "beta" for the pleasure of this relaxing treat. I adore your Hooch voice, brazen and good-sports-like (smiled at the detail of her being a bit flustered in front of Dumbledore), and your McGonagall with her brisk business face and quite a different (yet discernably her) private one. Lunella and Mellora are perfect chorus girls, too.

"That's not a problem," Minerva said, a tad stiffly. -- Love this little twist, where an encounter that has started out unexpectedly well takes a small turn for the complicated, only to be resolved later on. :)

And she was sitting with a stocky, grey-haired woman with a monocle. No, it couldn’t be. . .could they possibly be lovers? McGonagall and some butch? --

They didn't call you 'Warrior of the Air' for nothing, did they?"
"No, but I didn't pay them too much," said Hooch.
-- *g*

Minerva's answering smile was wry. "Sorry. Amelia is subtle only in her Auror work."
"She seems fun," Hooch said, noticing anew how nice Minerva's eyes looked when she smiled. "So," she went on, leaning in and waggling her eyebrows suggestively. "Come here often?"
-- I adore this!!! Sometimes "subtle" just doesn't cut it. *g*

And the end image is perfect – the warrior and the battle-axe indeed.
