Thanks a lot, unknown author! You really managed to follow my prompts: I like gen, and I like Lily, and I love Remus, so thanks! I think they are all very much in character: James, stubborn and protective, Lily, strong-willed and passionate, and Remus, reasonable and understanding. I think James and Lily's relationship very much mirrors Harry and Ginny's, wherein he wants her to stay safe and she wants to be at the core of things. Both Lily and Ginny were brilliant witches, and it always made me uncomfortable that Ginny would accept to be left behind. But of course, there was no one with Remus's sense to solve the situation between them.
What Remus says makes a lot of sense, and it's exactly like him to deal with this kind of situation in an effective, yet unassuming way. He's a natural peace-maker. And of course, there's a bitter sadness in their hopes that Lily will live to achieve all their dreams, which makes the story more moving.
So, thanks a lot for this Christmas gift, and I wonder very much what Lily was thinking when she said it would be "fabulous"! (do you mind to explain?)
