"Kevin!" Hannah called from the bedroom fiddling with the button on her black skirt.
His head appeared in the threshold of the adjoint bathroom fiddling with his tie. "Yes, darling?"
"When did you say the baptism begins?" "11.30."

"Do you really think this is a good idea?" Hannah asked doubtfully.
"Yes."
"But- she is not even related to me by blood or marriage."
"Hannah." His tone was calm and reassuring. "My sister adores you. Henry is completely enthralled with you. Why shouldn't you be the Godmother of your quasi niece?"
Hannah looked down to the ground and picked at the coverlet.
"What if I am horrible Godmother? What if she gets hurt while she is with us? What if I drop her during the ceremony?"
"Oh hush, darling. You're going to be a wonderful Godmother. Each and every one of my nephews and nieces loves you. Remember last time we went to a family meeting and you were hold up by the intern at work?" Hannah nodded. "Each member of the kids' table asked where 'Aunt Banana' was. My only accomplishment that evening was that you came and kissed me hello." He smirked. "In fact, I don't think Anna would make me Godfather if you weren't at my side."
Hannah grinned and kissed him. "Hurry or we'll be late."

So it came that Kevin and Hannah stood by the font of St. Edward's Chapel, Hannah proudly carrying her Goddaughter. When the vicar blessed the girl and poured a hand of water over her tiny forehead, the infant started to fuss and whimper. "Oh hush, little baby." Hannah whispered gently and stroked the face of fuzzing Helena.
