"Get the hell out of here," Lucius snarled, shoving Amos against the wall.

"What is your problem, Malfoy?" Amos glared, hoping he came across as menacing, when in reality all he felt was fear. Why did this Slytherin terrify him? It couldn't be just his eyes, silver and cold, boring into him like burning coals. No one gaze could be enough to drive a boy away, to make Amos hide around corners just to avoid it. It didn't make sense.

Lucius grinned at him viciously. "I saw you," he hissed, leaning in, their faces nearly touching. Amos held his breath and tried not to quiver. "You were spying on me, weren't you, Diggory?"

"I certainly was not," Amos said pompously, drawing himself up and pushing Malfoy away from him. "Why should I spy on you? That kind of behavior is beneath me."

Slowly, the anger drained from Malfoy's face, leaving a curious blankness behind. "I don't think you understand how difficult I can make things for you," he said softly.

Amos scoffed, rolling his eyes, mostly so he wouldn't have to look at Lucius. "Because you're a year above me? Because you're a Malfoy? Give it up, Lucius; it's not going to matter. I haven't done anything wrong; our heads of house will see that clearly."

Lucius just stared at him, that same strange blankness on his face, his eyes having lost their vicious gleam for once. It appeared that he hadn't heard a word Amos had said; he just stared at him, and Amos began to fidget nervously. "What is your problem?" He asked again, loudly, desperate for some kind of reaction.

"I can't work you out, Amos," Lucius said finally, and the sound of his first name coming out in that silky drawl cast a shiver down Amos's spine. "At first, I thought…." A slow grin crept up the corners of Malfoy's lips, a very different sort of smile than Amos had ever seen before on the blonde boy. "Perhaps you may prove useful, after all," Lucius said softly. "I can certainly see an appeal."

But this time it was Amos who wasn't listening, for the gleam in Lucius's eyes was back, and it held the Hufflepuff in a stupor of sorts, a whirlwind of emotions inexplicable, unbelievable. Amos Diggory shook his head and forced himself to take a deep breath, to ignore whatever confusing stupidity Malfoy had cast upon him. He was just another Prefect, another boy; that was all. And no self-respecting Diggory ever got caught up in feelings for another boy. "I'm leaving," Amos said firmly, turning away from Malfoy. "Don't follow me."

"Oh, I wouldn't dream of it," Lucius replied, and Amos walked away quickly, holding his head up high and pointedly ignoring Malfoy's parting words.

Lucius laughed to himself as he watched Diggory prance down the hall like the fool he inevitably was. "Not yet, at least," he added, grinning, plotting, not knowing exactly why he needed to bother with Amos at all.

Mhm, what a wonderful description of Lucius' eyes. *drools* Hehe, and Lucius shoved Amos against a wall. Maybe not for a long time but I have a thing for walls.

It's somehow cute how they both can't quite figure out what is drawing them together again and again, and the effect Lucius has on Amos is just so powerfully written! Wonderful job! I'm looking forward to see what Lucius is plotting and how long Amos can walk away. :)
