Gah, so sorry I'm late! Vacation and a myriad of other things had me missing large chunks of my reading list this past month and I'm just getting round to catch up.
That said, I really, really loved this. So many gorgeous details of the friendship Snape and McGonagall shared - I adored the bits about the "wine" pile, and Molly's (slightly patronizing) letter. It's so easy to understand why Minerva would gravitate toward Snape, because he'd made the same choices - the Order and Hogwarts over a traditional "family" life.
The end really got me, when she's contemplating facing him again, with their lost friendship sitting between them like the 800lb gorilla in the room. You did a brilliant job fitting the prompt, as well! And your writing is flawless; I dare say you write better than some of the native speakers I know. :)
