Summary: Theodore, whom had been holding his page betwixt two fingers, looked over at Astoria, who was staring with a soft blush down at the ugly white stain at her feet.
Author's Notes: I wrote it this way because it just...came out that way. So, I hope you enjoy it!

Theodore was seated on a couch in the Slytherin Common Room during the Sorting Feast. Somehow, he had managed to slip out of the Great Hall during the sorting and was now reading a book in solitary. He had made a habit out of this, every year to date. It was a little strange how many of his friends did not notice it. At the same time, Theo was thankful for his alone time. It allowed him to deal with the loud debauchery of his housemates when they decided to unleash it in the Common Room.

He had just turned the page to the climax of his mystery thriller novel when there was a loud knock on the Portrait. Theo didn't get up until the knocking got extremely frantic. He certainly wasn't keen on having to get up from his seat but when the knocking got erratic and scary, he stood languidly, stretched, and went to open the Portrait. A small, stumbling girl - a first year, he thought - stumbled in with Daphne Greengrass holding onto her arm. Theodore curtly nodded at Daphne as if to greet her but the girl's face looked as if she was going to be sick all over the floor so that was not the time for a proper hello. He moved out of the way as Daphne shepherded the girl inside. They made it up the girls' staircase before he heard the disturbing retching noise, a shriek, and a tumble.

Theodore spun around, his eyes slightly widened at the scene. Apparently, the younger girl had thrown up, Daphne had freaked out and forgot she was on the stairs, and fell. Luckily, she wasn't that far off. The girl's face was ridden with horror, disgust, and pain. Theo made it to Daphne's side in a few moments, helping her up. "Are you okay, Daphne?" She nodded, her blonde hair falling over her head as she managed to get to her feet. She brushed it away from her face and sighed. "Theodore, I really have to hurry back to the ceremony. Can you take care of my sister? Her name's Astoria. She's too nervous - barely got sorted into Slytherin before totally losing it and getting sick at the table. It wasn't a big fiasco but she's really freaking out. Thanks." All of this was said in one breath before she darted back towards the door, disheveled and shaken. Theodore, whom had been holding his page betwixt two fingers, looked over at Astoria, who was staring with a soft blush down at the ugly white stain at her feet.

He flicked his wand and the entirety of the puddle had disappeared. This sudden reaction caused Astoria to look up and give him a sheepish, nervous smile. "Hi," she said, descending the stairs carefully, her arms folded over her stomach gently. He quirked an eyebrow, but replied. "Hello. Are you sure you're alright?" Astoria smiled to herself and tucked a strand of hair away from her face, looking down at her feet as she rolled back and forth on her heels. "I'm alright. I get so nervous during things like this. Sometimes I get sick. I didn't think I would get so sick. I certainly hope I haven't ruined dinner for anyone. And I certainly don't want to be a nuisance to you." She said this last comment on account of how people had reacted towards her being sick. She felt like she was being a big burden to the Slytherin because she was so weak at the moment.

But Theodore wasn't like that at all. In fact, he was the opposite. While some Slytherin were cruel and vicious, Theodore was indifferent and apathetic towards others. He didn't make a big scene out of things - so he didn't mind Astoria's stories - although he was anxious to get back to his sustained silent reading. "You aren't being a nuisance. Why would you think so?" She sighed gently, looking at him searchingly. He could tell she was but a first year - not because of the obvious - but because of the way she behaved. "Well...I don't really fit in with many of the Slytherins here. Or at least what I have heard from Daphne about them." She sighed and moved to plop down on the couch. "I don't fit in, I assure you. I like being close to my friends and being nice to people who I know, even if they are in another house. I like keeping to myself sometimes and I don't think that there is anything wrong with it. I study and I love going to classes, at least I know I will. I don't think my behavior is sly, cunning, or ambitious enough. I just like to be my timid and shy self. I sometimes just want to be alone and read a good book, you know?" Theodore smirked a little, raising his book to her. "Yes," he said with the same smirk on his face, "I certainly know. I think this is going to be the perfect house for you, Astoria."
